Turn Your Thermostat and Energy Bills Into a Dashboard

確認済み 2026-10-20

A muse can take your thermostat data and years of energy bills and build one dashboard that shows how your home uses energy, where rate rises hit, and which patterns cost you money.

What it does

Most homes have the facts scattered: a smart thermostat holds years of heating and cooling data, and the power company holds years of bills, but nobody puts the two side by side. A muse can do that joining work. You hand it the thermostat export and your past bills, and it builds a single dashboard you can read at a glance. It lines up what your home used against what you paid, month by month, so rate rises stand apart from usage rises. It points to patterns in plain terms: the months your heating runs longest, the seasons where costs jump, and whether a higher bill came from a price change or from your home working harder. That split matters, because the fix for a rate rise is different from the fix for a usage rise.

How to use it

  1. Export your thermostat data from the app or website, in whatever file it offers.
  2. Gather your energy bills for as far back as you can, as PDFs or downloads from your power company account.
  3. Hand both sets of files to the muse and ask: "Build me a dashboard of my energy use and cost, month by month, and explain the biggest changes."
  4. Read the summary first: which months cost most, and what drove each jump.
  5. Ask follow-up questions in plain words, such as "What would last winter have cost at this year's rates?"
  6. Keep the dashboard and update it with each new bill, so the picture stays current.

What you need

  • A smart thermostat with a data export you can download
  • Past energy bills, as PDFs or downloads
  • A muse you can share files with

What to watch for

  • The dashboard can only work with the history you give it. A few months of bills gives a thin picture; several years shows real patterns and seasons.
  • Check a couple of months against the original bills before you trust the totals. A misread figure early on will tilt every comparison after it.
  • A rate rise and a usage rise can land in the same month. If the dashboard blends them, ask the muse to separate the two before you act on either.
  • The dashboard explains your bills; it does not change your plan or thermostat for you. Any switch stays your call.
