Turn Your Family Tree File Into an Animated Chart and a Print

確認済み 2026-10-24

A muse can take your genealogy program's family tree file and build a clean four-generation chart, animate it into a short video where each ancestor appears in birth order, and export a frame as a large print-ready picture.

What it does

Most genealogy programs can export a standard family tree file (a GEDCOM file) holding names, dates, and how everyone connects. Hand that file to a muse and it can find you, lay out four generations in a standard pedigree chart with reference numbers and a legend, and fix what looks crowded or unclear when you ask. Once the still chart reads well, ask for it flipped, oldest ancestors on the left, like a timeline. Then the muse can animate it: each person fades in by birth order, stays lit while alive, and dims at death, across about ten seconds. Any frame can be exported as a still at print quality, sized for a large sheet such as 11 by 17 inches at 300 dots per inch.

How to use it

  1. Export a family tree file from your genealogy program or site, and before uploading anything, remove or hide the details of living people.
  2. Ask for a still four-generation pedigree chart first, with reference numbers, a legend, and a source note.
  3. Ask the muse to review the chart and fix what it finds. Repeat until it reads cleanly at a glance.
  4. Ask for the chart flipped left to right, oldest ancestors first.
  5. Describe the motion you want and approve the plan before anything is rendered, with living people shown only as "Living."
  6. Refine one change at a time, and give each version a new filename so nothing good gets overwritten.
  7. Pick a frame you like and ask for it exported at print size and 300 dots per inch.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • A family tree file exported from a genealogy program or site
  • A copy of that file with living people's details removed

What to watch for

  • The privacy step comes first and is not optional. A file with full dates for living people is sensitive, so work from the scrubbed copy even if asked for the fuller file.
  • Check names, dates, and connections on the still chart before animating, because an error in the file becomes an error in every frame.
  • Keep living people shown as "Living," with no dates, in both the video and the print.
  • The muse prepares and renders, you decide what is accurate enough to share with family.
