Screen Your Messages Without Marking Them Read
A muse can read through your unread Instagram direct messages, summarize each thread for you, and leave every message marked unread, so you learn what is waiting without telling anyone you have seen it.
What it does
Opening a message starts a clock. The sender can see that you read it, and then a reply feels owed right away, even when you only wanted to know whether anything urgent was sitting there. The muse can work through the unread list in a read-only way, pull out what each thread is about, who needs an answer, and what can wait, then report back while the messages stay unread on the platform. It can screen a whole backlog of unread threads in one pass, and every one stays marked unread afterwards.
How to use it
- Connect Instagram. It links through Accounts Center for most people who use the same login for Facebook and Instagram.
- Tell your muse, in plain words, to summarize the unread threads and to leave them unread. That second part is the instruction that makes this work.
- Ask for the report in the order you care about: people first, then businesses, then anything that looks like spam.
- Read the summary and choose which threads to open yourself.
- Repeat the screen whenever the unread count creeps up again.
What you need
- A muse account
- An Instagram account connected to your muse
- Read-only access is enough for this job
What to watch for
The rule has to be stated every time until it is a habit: summarize, do not open, do not mark read. A summary is a skim, not the full thread, so open the original before you reply to anything delicate or money related. Voice notes and disappearing photos may not summarize well, and those threads still need your own eyes. It is normal if handing message access to an agent sounds strange at first. Start with read-only access, review what it can see, and keep the choice to open and answer with you. The muse screens, you decide who hears back.
