Research Design References Before You Start

確認済み 2026-10-15

A muse can do the reference hunting before a design job: it finds strong examples in your niche, spots the patterns they share, and organizes them into a swipe file you can work from, while you stay on the job itself.

What it does

Good design work usually starts with looking at what already works, and that looking eats hours. A muse takes the search. You name the kind of page or product you are about to design, and it finds a set of strong examples in that space. It notes what repeats across them, such as how the opening section is built, where proof like reviews or logos tends to sit, how calls to action are worded, and how pricing is shown. Then it groups the references by pattern, not just by site, and delivers the set as a document you can keep open while you design. The result is not a copy of anyone else's work. It is a short, organized view of the choices your field keeps making, so your own choices start informed.

How to use it

  1. Name the job in one line: what you are designing, and who it is for.
  2. Ask for a fixed number of strong examples in that niche, with links for each one.
  3. Ask for the shared patterns, grouped by pattern, with two or three examples under each.
  4. Say where you want the file, such as a notes page or a plain document.
  5. Read it before you start designing, and mark the patterns you want to use and the ones you want to avoid.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • A clear one line brief for the design job
  • A place to keep the file, such as your notes app or a shared folder

What to watch for

Check the links yourself. Pages change, and an example that was right last month may look different today. Patterns are a starting point, not a rule book: if every page in your niche looks the same, matching all of them makes your work easy to ignore. Pick the patterns that fit your reader and drop the rest. Be careful with direct copying of text, images, or layouts from the references. Studying how others handle a pricing section is fine, lifting their words or artwork is not. The muse gathers and organizes, you decide what your work becomes.
