Put Library Books on Hold

A muse can sign in to your public library account, place holds on the books you want, and keep an eye on what you already have checked out, including due dates and fees. You send the titles; the library run happens on its own.

What it does

Give the muse your library login and a title, and it goes to the library website, finds the book, and places the hold at your branch, the same clicks you would make yourself. It can also read your account page back to you in plain words. In one verified account check, the muse reported five books checked out with their due dates, one hold waiting at the branch, and a fee balance of zero, and it flagged the two books due that Saturday as ones to renew. That account view is the quiet win: one short summary that says what is out, what is due soon, what is waiting for pickup, and what you owe.

How to use it

1. Connect your library account: "Sign in to my library account and remember that my pickup branch is the main branch."
2. Send titles as you think of them: "Put a hold on this book for me." One title or a list of five both work.
3. Ask for the standing check: "Once a week, tell me what I have checked out, what is due in the next three days, and what holds are ready."
4. When it flags a book due soon, answer in the same chat: "Renew that one" or "I will return it Friday."
5. When a hold is ready, the muse tells you the branch and how long the library will keep it on the hold shelf.

What to watch for

Hold queues are real. If forty people are ahead of you for a popular book, the muse can place the hold but it cannot move you up the line, and it should tell you your place in the queue so you can decide whether to wait or buy the book instead. Pickup windows are short, often a few days, so a ready hold can lapse if you ignore the notice. Renewals fail when someone else has a hold on the book; the muse will report that, and the book still has to go back on time. You can disconnect the library account whenever you like. The muse does the clicking, but the card, and the late fees, stay yours.
