Play Music and Podcasts in Plain Words Through Spotify
You can connect Spotify to your muse so it can search the catalog, play songs, albums, playlists, podcast episodes, and audiobooks on your devices, and build playlists from a mood you describe.
What it does
Connected, the muse searches Spotify for what you name and starts it on an active device, such as your phone, computer, speaker, or TV. Name the artist with the title and it finds the original instead of a cover or a similar track. If a song is not on Spotify, it says so and plays nothing else. You can pause, resume, skip, go back, change the volume, add a track to the queue, and move playback to another device, all by asking. Ask what is playing and it names the track and who made it. It can also find a podcast episode by topic, guest, or a half-remembered phrase, list new episodes from shows you follow, save tracks and episodes to your library as you go.
How to use it
- Open the muse app and go to Settings, then Connectors.
- Select Connect next to Spotify and sign in with the Spotify account holding your library. Only one account can connect, so pick the right one first.
- Read the permission screen before you approve it. The muse needs to read your library and control playback.
- Open Spotify on the device you want to hear. Playback needs an active device.
- Test with one exact song by one exact artist. If the right song plays on the right device, the connection is working.
- For a playlist, say the mood, the occasion, and the length, then read the track list before you play it.
What you need
- A muse account, with access in the US, Canada, Japan, or Singapore
- A Spotify account with your library and playlists
- A phone, computer, speaker, or TV with Spotify open to play on
- Approvals set so changes wait for you
What to watch for
- The muse can create a playlist, add tracks to it, and rename it. It cannot delete a playlist, remove a track from one, or reorder one. Do that editing in the app.
- It cannot play music from another service, and it cannot show your Spotify home page or its recommendations. Ask for what you want by name.
- Check the device before the moment matters. A speaker that is off is the most common reason a request goes nowhere.
- Name the artist every time. A title alone is how covers slip in.
