Pay for the Parking Spot by Retrying Until the Old Session Clears

Verified 2026-10-24

When a parking app refuses your payment because the last driver's session still shows as active on your spot, a muse can keep retrying and pay the moment the spot clears, while you go on with your day.

What it does

This block is common and usually fixes itself, just not on your schedule. The old session has to expire before the app will take a new payment for the same spot. You tell it the spot, how long you need, and your deadline. It tries to pay, and if the old session is still active it tries again on the short cycle you set, so the car can be paid for while you are in a meeting. You hear from the muse when the payment lands, or when your deadline passes unpaid.

How to use it

  1. Park, note the zone and spot number, and confirm in the app that the block is the old-session message, not a payment problem.
  2. Make sure your saved payment method in the app is current. The retry only works if the charge can go through the moment the spot clears.
  3. Say: "The app will not let me pay for this spot because another session is active. Check every 10 minutes and pay as soon as it lets you. Tell me when it is paid, or if it still fails by my deadline."
  4. Go to your meeting. When the paid message arrives, check the app once for the active session in your name.
  5. If the deadline passes with no payment, move the car or pay at the meter, rather than leaving it unpaid.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • The parking app account with a saved, current payment method
  • The zone and spot number, the length of stay, and a firm deadline

What to watch for

  • A retry watch is not a guarantee. If the old session runs for hours, your deadline can pass unpaid, and any ticket in that window is still yours.
  • Some apps tie a spot to one account at a time in ways a retry cannot fix. If the muse reports the same block after several tries, that is the signal to move, not to keep waiting.
  • Check the paid session's start time when it lands. A late start may end before you are back, so add time if the app allows it.
  • The muse retries and pays a small, known amount you set in advance. Keep the stay length and deadline explicit.
