Open the Facebook Post Behind a Shared Link
Your muse can take a Facebook link someone sent you, including a shortened share link, work out which post it points to, and read that post back to you with its author, time, text, and link.
What it does
Facebook links come in several shapes, and the short share kind hides where it leads until you open it. Connect Facebook and your muse can sort that out before you tap through. A normal post, photo, video, or Reel link, including a mobile link, goes straight to the reader. The reader resolves a photo or video link to the post that holds it, and returns the post text, a link back to the original, and any media description that comes with it. A share link needs one extra step first: your muse decodes it into the original link, then reads that post the same way. For some videos and Reels it can also surface the products shown, with the details that came back from Facebook.
How to use it
- Connect your Facebook account in the muse app and review the access it asks for.
- Paste the link exactly as you got it: "What does this Facebook link actually go to?"
- Read the summary your muse returns: who posted it, when, what it says, and what the photo or video shows.
- Follow the returned link if you want the post in Facebook itself.
- If the link will not resolve, ask the sender for the direct post link and try that one instead.
What you need
- A muse account
- A Facebook account connected to your muse, which share links need before they can be decoded
- The link itself, pasted in full and unchanged
What to watch for
- A share link that decodes to nothing cannot be read. That means the link could not be resolved, and the fix is a direct link, not a second guess at the token.
- Some single photos or videos stand alone, with no post holding them. In that case there may be no caption or post text to read back.
- Media descriptions are prepared ahead of time and can be missing. Your muse describes only what came back, so a post with no description is a gap in the record, not proof of what the image holds.
- Product details from a video are a starting point only. A name in the post does not confirm a current price or that the item is in stock, so check those separately before you buy.
