Make Your Business Bookable by Customer Agents
More customers now ask their own muse to book services for them, and a small business can meet those agents halfway: a muse can be given a direct way to quote a visit, hold a slot, book the job, send a deposit link, and report the job status, instead of guessing its way around your website.
What it does
When a customer's muse looks for a plumber, a salon, or a repair shop, it works best with a direct connection to the business's booking system. That connection is called a connector: a small piece of software that lists exactly what an agent may do, such as check open slots, quote a standard visit, place a hold, confirm a booking, and take a deposit, with the customer approving the money steps. You can publish a connector yourself for customers to add, with no approval process in front of it. Or you can apply for the reviewed directory, where the connector is tested end to end and checked for security and legal basics before it is listed.
How to use it
- Write down the short list of jobs an agent may do: quote, hold, book, deposit, status. Nothing else belongs on the list at first.
- Have the connector built against your existing booking or calendar system. If you do not build software, hand the job to a developer.
- Add a short setup note customers can paste into their muse, saying what the connector does and what it will always ask before doing.
- Test it as a customer would: ask your own muse for a quote and a held slot, and read everything it sends back.
- Choose your route: share the connector directly, apply for the reviewed directory listing, or do both.
What you need
- A booking, calendar, or job system the connector can read and update
- A developer or a connector building tool to set it up
- A payment link setup for deposits, if you take them
- One test booking you run yourself before any customer touches it
What to watch for
- A connector you publish yourself is not reviewed by anyone, so customers are trusting your setup. Your setup note should say plainly what it can and cannot do.
- Start narrow. An agent that can only quote and hold is a safe first version; booking and deposits can come after the test runs behave.
- Wrong prices and stale slots are the early failure modes, so check the first real bookings by hand.
- You stay in charge of your prices and your calendar.
