What it does

Medical bills arrive by email and patient portals, and most people never submit them all. The muse searches your email for invoices, receipts, and statements from doctors, therapists, and clinics, then submits each one as a claim to your insurer. It keeps a running total of what has been applied to your deductible, so you can see exactly where you stand.

How to use it

1. Connect your email and your insurer's portal to the muse.
2. Ask it to find every medical invoice and receipt from this year that has not been submitted yet.
3. Review the pile it collects. Remove anything already paid or already claimed.
4. Let it submit the claims, one by one, and record the confirmation numbers.
5. Ask it for the running total against your deductible and what that means for the rest of the year.

What you need

What to watch for

• This one reads your email, and it is normal if that feels strange. You choose what it connects to, and what it remembers can be reviewed, edited, or wiped.
• The insurer decides what counts. A submitted claim can still be denied, and the muse cannot make an insurer pay.
• Check anything over a few hundred dollars yourself before it goes in. Typos in dates or amounts are the most common reason claims bounce.
• Keep every invoice and every confirmation number. If a claim goes missing, the paper trail is what gets it found.
