Have Sellers Fix Your Orders by Phone
When an order goes wrong, the fix often sits behind a phone call to the seller that you keep putting off: a wrong shipping address, a package that never arrived. A muse can make those seller calls for you, explain the problem with your order details in hand, and report back what the seller agreed to do.
What it does
Post-order problems are small, concrete, and easy to state, which makes them a good fit for a delegated call. The muse can call a seller to correct a shipping address on an order, or call about an order that never arrived and ask for a resend. The muse works from the order confirmation, states the order number and the fix needed, and stays on the call until the seller confirms the change.
How to use it
- Forward or show the muse the order confirmation for the order that needs fixing.
- State the problem and the fix in one line: "The address is wrong. It should be this address," or "This order never arrived. Ask them to resend it."
- Set the limits: "Do not accept store credit if a resend or a refund to my card is possible, and do not agree to pay any new shipping fee without asking me."
- Let the muse call. If the seller needs a code or an answer only you know, the muse can patch you in or pause and ask.
- Read the report back: what was changed, the new delivery date if there is one, and any confirmation number the seller gave.
What you need
- The order confirmation, with the order number and the name the order was placed under
- The corrected details ready in writing, such as the right shipping address
- Phone calling set up for your muse, and the seller's number if it is not on the confirmation
What to watch for
- Check the corrected details character by character in the report back. An address fixed over the phone is only fixed if the house number and ZIP code are exactly right.
- Some sellers will only speak to the account holder, or will ask security questions the muse cannot answer. In those cases the muse should hand the call to you rather than guess.
- Keep approval on for money. A resend is routine, but any new charge, fee, or changed order total should come back to you first.
- If the seller promises a fix, get the confirmation number or a follow-up email before you treat it as done.
