Get a Sunday Summary of Missing Schoolwork

Verified 2026-10-21

A muse can check a school portal once a week, flag missing work, a class that is slipping, and big tests coming up, and email you one short summary on Sunday.

What it does

School portals hold everything and announce nothing. Missing assignments, a grade sliding a little each week, and a test date set weeks ahead all sit behind a login that busy parents open too late. A muse can do the weekly check for you. On the day you pick, it signs in to the portal, reads each class, and pulls three things into one email: work marked missing, any class where the grade has slipped, and major tests on the calendar ahead. Instead of clicking through every class page yourself, you get one short note that tells you where to look first. The talk with your child and any message to a teacher still come from you. The muse just makes sure the week does not surprise you on Friday.

How to use it

  1. Connect or sign in to the school portal your family already uses, such as Canvas, with the parent or student login your school allows.
  2. Say which day and time you want the check, for example Sunday evening, and where the summary should go.
  3. Set the three flags in plain words: "Tell me what is marked missing, which class grades have slipped since last week, and which big tests are coming in the next two weeks."
  4. Read the first summary alongside the portal itself, and correct anything the muse read wrong, such as a class it should skip.
  5. Use the summary to plan the week, then let the check run. Ask for the same format each week so changes stand out.

What you need

  • A school portal account your school provides
  • Permission to use that login for a weekly check
  • An email address for the summary

What to watch for

  • A missing flag can mean a teacher has not entered a grade yet. Check with your child before treating it as late work.
  • The summary is only as current as the portal. Work handed in on paper may not show up at all.
  • This is your child's school record. Limit the connection to the portal, review what the muse can see, and cut off access at any time.
  • It is normal if a helper reading a school portal sounds like a lot. Start with one weekly summary, read it against the real portal, and stop it if it is not helping.
