File the Missing Miles Claim

Verified 2026-10-10

Shopping portals promise miles on top of your purchase, and sometimes the miles never show up. A muse can dig up your receipts, file the missing-miles claims with the airline, and save proof of everything in one place. In a verified case, the claims were filed and confirmed by email the same day.

What it does

Many airlines run shopping portals: click through to a store, buy something, and earn airline miles on the purchase. The tracking breaks more often than anyone admits. A muse fixes the follow-through. It finds the email receipts for your purchases in your inbox, matches them to the portal's missing-miles form, and files the claim with the order number, date, and amount. It saves a copy of each receipt where you can find it later, and it shows you the confirmation the airline sends back.

How to use it

  1. Tell the muse which purchases should have earned miles: the store, the rough date, and the airline's shopping portal you used.
  2. Give it read access to your email so it can find the order receipts, or forward the receipts to it yourself.
  3. Ask it to file a missing-miles claim for each purchase, attaching the receipt details.
  4. Read the claim details before it submits: order number, date, and total must match the receipt.
  5. Keep the confirmation emails. If the miles still do not post in a few weeks, the muse has the receipts ready for a follow-up.

What you need

  • An account in the airline's loyalty program, connected to the shopping portal.
  • Email receipts for the purchases, or email access so the muse can find them.
  • A folder (cloud drive works) where the muse can save the receipt copies.

What to watch for

  • Claims can take weeks to resolve. Filed is not the same as credited, so check your miles balance later.
  • Some purchases do not qualify: gift cards, returns, and in-store pickup are often excluded. Check the portal's fine print first.
  • File sooner rather than later. Portals usually limit claims to a few months after the purchase.
  • Keep the confirmation email for every claim. If a claim vanishes, that email is your proof it was filed.
