Dispute the Charged Local Service Ads Leads That Never Replied

Verified 2026-10-25

A muse can sweep your Google Local Service Ads inbox, rate the charged leads where the customer never replied, and mark them as bad so Google can refund the ad spend.

What it does

Local Service Ads charge you per lead, not per click. Some leads go nowhere: the customer never answers, never books, and the charge stays unless you dispute it by hand. That review is dull work, and most small firms put it off. A muse can do the sweep for you. It checks the lead inbox for new leads, then works through the charged ones, looking for cases where the customer never responded. It rates each one and marks it as bad, which is the step that asks Google to refund the charge. Each sweep takes seconds instead of the long manual review it replaces.

How to use it

  1. Connect the account your Local Service Ads run under, or sign in to it through the browser the muse opens for you.
  2. Ask for a check first: "Look in my Local Service Ads inbox and tell me which new leads came in this week."
  3. Then give the sweep a clear rule: "Go through the charged leads where the customer never replied and mark each one as bad so the charge can be refunded."
  4. Read the report it brings back: how many leads it rated, which ones, and the total it expects back.
  5. Check your ads account a few days later and confirm the refunds landed.

What you need

  • A Google Local Service Ads account with charged leads in it.
  • Access to that account for the muse, through a connection or a sign-in you do yourself.
  • A clear rule for what counts as a bad lead, in this case a charged lead with no reply from the customer.

What to watch for

  • Marking a lead as bad is a claim to Google, not a promise. Google decides each refund, and some marked leads may still be refused.
  • Set the rule tightly. A lead where the customer replied once and then went quiet is a judgment call, not a lead that never replied at all. Keep those out of the sweep or review them yourself.
  • Check the report before you trust the total. The amount the muse expects back and the amount Google credits can differ.
  • Run the sweep weekly or monthly. Small charges are easy to miss, and they add up across a season.
