Collect the Files You Are Missing Through Dropbox

Verified 2026-10-27

You can connect a Dropbox account to your muse so it finds the project files you already have, sets up a folder for the job, and starts a file request for the pieces other people still owe you.

What it does

Projects stall on missing files: the brief is in one place, the photos never arrived, and the last version sits in someone's email. Connected, the muse works across your Dropbox for you. Ask for the latest client brief and the assets that go with it, and it finds them by description, not by exact file name. Ask it to start a job and it creates the project folder, copies the materials into it, and starts a file request so the people who owe you files can send them into that folder. It can also create shared links for finished work, check the links already on your files, and track longer jobs that combine Dropbox steps with other steps.

How to use it

  1. Log in to your muse, open Settings, then Connectors, find Dropbox, and select Connect.
  2. Review the connection information before you confirm it, and set each action, such as reading files or managing file requests, to the level you want.
  3. Start with a find: "Find the latest brief for this project and the assets that go with it." Check that it pulled the right versions.
  4. Ask for the setup: "Create a folder for this job, copy those materials into it, and start a file request for the files still missing."
  5. Read the file request and the shared link before you approve sending either one to anyone.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • A Dropbox account, connected through the connector in your muse settings
  • A short list of the files a project already has and the files it is still missing

What to watch for

  • You cannot preview Dropbox files inside the muse right now. Open an important file in Dropbox itself to confirm it is the right version before you rely on it.
  • Sharing is the step to watch. A shared link or a file request goes to real people, so check who it names and what folder it opens before you approve it.
  • Deleting and moving sit behind the connector settings you choose. Start with reading and retrieving, and widen access only when a job needs it.
  • It is normal if an agent moving files around sounds strange. You can change each action's setting, review what the muse remembers, or disconnect Dropbox at any time.
