Build a Grader for Handwritten Tests by Talking

確認済み 2026-10-22

A muse can build a working grader for handwritten tests from conversation alone. You describe the grading job, approve the plan, and point at what is wrong, and the muse writes the tool, tests it, and puts it online, without you writing any code.

What it does

Grading a class set of handwritten papers can take hours every week: read each paper, judge it against the scoring guide, add the scores, then type results into the school system. The grader takes a photo or upload of each paper, reads the handwriting, and marks each answer against the scoring guide, with partial credit where earned. The scoring guide is built two ways: rebuilt from a paper you already graded, or made fresh with each question's point total locked to the total you set. The tool shows class statistics and exports scores as a spreadsheet file your school system can take. During the build, the muse checks its grading against past exam questions with official scoring guides, fixes each problem with a test attached, and sets up hosting and a demo space, so trials never touch real class results.

How to use it

  1. Describe the job plainly: the subject, how many papers a week, what a finished grade must include, and where scores end up.
  2. Read the short design the muse writes back. Change anything that does not match how you grade.
  3. Give it one paper you already graded, to rebuild your scoring guide from it, or state the point total for each question.
  4. Test it on a small stack you have already marked and compare every score.
  5. Send corrections one at a time, naming the exact miss, such as "question three missed four of six answers on this page." Vague notes get vague fixes.
  6. Move to a full class set only after the test stack matches your judgment.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • Photos or scans of student papers, taken straight and well lit
  • One graded example, or a scoring guide with point totals
  • The spreadsheet format your school system accepts
  • Short review sessions across several days during the build

What to watch for

  • Expect a build measured in days of short check-ins, not one sitting.
  • Blurry or crooked photos get misread. Retake bad photos instead.
  • Student work is sensitive. Trial the tool in the demo space first, and follow your school rules on uploads.
  • The muse marks and adds up, you remain the judge of whether a score is fair. Spot check every batch, especially early on.
