Ask Your House Questions and Build Spoken Alerts Through Hubitat

Verified 2026-10-29

A muse connected to a Hubitat home hub can answer plain questions about your house, run simple commands you give it, and build spoken alert rules that warn you when something stays wrong for too long.

What it does

Hubitat is a small hub that controls lights, sensors, thermostats, and other home devices. A community app called Muse Bridge links that hub to your muse. Once linked, you can ask in normal words, such as whether the garage door is closed, or tell the house to set itself to Night mode. You can also describe an alert in one sentence, such as warning you if a window stays open for more than 15 minutes while the heat is on, and the muse builds that rule for you. Rules can check the house mode, the thermostat state, the time, and the day. Alerts can be spoken on your speakers, sent as a phone push, or sent in your muse chat. The hub also sends a daily health note listing devices with low batteries or devices that have gone quiet.

How to use it

  1. Install the Muse Bridge app on your Hubitat hub, by importing it or through Hubitat Package Manager.
  2. Turn on OAuth in the app, choose which devices the muse may see, and set a command passcode. Sensitive actions stay refused until it is set.
  3. Open the Link with Muse page and copy the ready-made setup message it gives you into your muse chat.
  4. Start with questions and one safe command, such as asking if a door is closed, and check the answers against the real house.
  5. Add one alert rule in plain words, naming the device, how long is too long, and any condition that matters, then test it before you rely on it.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • A Hubitat hub with home devices already added to it
  • The Muse Bridge community app installed on the hub
  • The cloud link details the app creates for your muse

What to watch for

  • This is a community app, not a Hubitat product, and it is used at your own risk.
  • Keep the passcode rule in place. Opening locks, garage doors, valves, and alarm changes should always need that second step.
  • Expose only the devices this job needs, not the whole house on day one.
  • Test every alert once. A rule that fires too often gets ignored, and one that never fires gives false comfort.
  • The muse prepares and reports, you decide what it may control.
