Ask About Your Sleep, Steps, and Workouts Through Apple Health
If you use an iPhone, your muse can read health records that sync from it through Apple Health, so you can ask about sleep, activity, and workouts in plain words.
What it does
Apple Health gathers records from your iPhone and from apps and wearables that share with it. Your muse reads what synced in three groups: daily metrics, such as steps and heart rate averages by hour, day, or week; sleep sessions, one record per night; and workout sessions, one record per workout. Ask for a trend and it returns the rollups for the dates you name. Ask about one night or workout and it returns that session, with local start and end times. It can also read raw samples, such as heart rate points during a workout. Before answering, it checks which categories synced and over what date range. If some days have not synced, it says results are partial rather than presenting a gap as a quiet day. Reads run without asking. Deleting synced records asks for approval each time.
How to use it
- Check your iPhone is online and health syncing is allowed. If permission is missing, the muse sends a connect link to finish the flow on the iPhone.
- Ask what has synced first: which categories are present and what dates they cover.
- Start with a trend you can check: "Show my daily steps for last week," and compare it with the Health app.
- For sleep, include the evening before the night you mean, because a night starts then: "How did I sleep last night?"
- For a workout, ask for that session by date.
What you need
- A muse account
- An iPhone with Apple Health, with health syncing allowed for Muse
- Records in Apple Health to read
What to watch for
- This connection serves iPhones only. An Android phone uses Health Connect instead, with different field names.
- A partial sync looks like missing activity. If coverage is incomplete, sync the range and ask again before reading a gap as a rest day.
- Records from more than one device are never added together. The muse keeps them separate, and so should you.
- Deleting synced records cannot be undone, and it removes every record kind in the range at once. Records still on the iPhone can return with a later sync. To revoke access, change Muse data access in the Health app settings.
- Health answers describe records, they do not diagnose. Take a worrying pattern to a clinician. The muse prepares, you decide.
